Di Feisheng doesn't break cover in exasperated incredulity, but it's a near thing. Cover is also why he's leaving Xiaobao on read, and not the fact that he is occasionally still in his twenties at heart and deeply annoying. Instead he gives the gourd a silent chance to rethink, or just get unwarily (it's a vegetable) in range of being leapt at.
